KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Duties of Position:

  • Provides all aspects of environmental cleaning in assigned work areas
  • Using specified cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing agents, maintains optimal levels of infection control within the work area
  • Following standardized procedures, is responsible for all cleaning within resident rooms, common areas and service areas within the home
  • Ensures privacy of residents during performance of duties
  • Prepares room for new occupants following prescribed procedures to ensure readiness
  • Participates in in-service programs arranged by the home
  • Notifies supervisor when supplies are low, or equipment is malfunctioning
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Manager

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum grade 12 or high school education
  • Previous housekeeping experience required
  • Ability to read, write English and follow written instructions
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered,

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, resident’s families, visitors and staff in a positive manner
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents
  • Good understanding of chemical and equipment use
  • Good understanding of proper Environmental processes and infection control.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, and Excel, internet use, and computerized documentation an asset
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
