Description

The Christmas Kettle Coordinator ensures the smooth running of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing donations and coordinating staffing (employees and volunteers).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May assist in the recruitment of Kettle Workers (employees and volunteers), assisting with orientation, performance management, discipline, and payroll processing
  • Coordinates the schedule for kettle staff, and responds to emergency absences, etc.
  • Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites, addressing conflicts/issues as they arise
  • Delivers and picks-up kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations
  • Hosts at kettle, as required, to ensure necessary coverage for breaks, etc.
  • May assume responsibility for coordinating kettle counters and/or overseeing counting
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets, as required, for local/divisional/territorial offices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:

The successful job applicant will have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.

NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will hold/have:
• Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
• A valid PE drivers license

MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:

One year but less than three years of prior related experience, including, experience working with multi-barriered persons.

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires frequently transporting kettle stands, driving and occasionally hosting kettles.

 

CONCENTRATION REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires attentive calling and listening (scheduling of volunteers), and computer work for reporting.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES:

The incumbent’s responsibility for Human Resources:

The incumbent is responsible for their own time and effort only. They may demonstrate work methods to new employees/volunteers.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The incumbent’s work environment is typically in a community & family services office.

The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
• Exposure to dirt and fumes etc. of the warehouse/loading dock
• Work-related stress
• Dealing with angry and abusive people

*The incumbent may have travel required.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:

The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate risk of injury or illnesses due to:
• Physical attacks by others (and verbal) (e.g., disgruntled clients acting out physically or verbally)
• Exposure to infectious diseases
• Moving objects
• Sharp objects

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:

The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
• Universal Precautions
• Non-violent crisis intervention training
• Food-safe Training
• Take Protective Barriers
