Refocusing Services on Emergency Response in Whitehorse

Refocusing Services on Emergency Response in Whitehorse

The Salvation Army is refocusing its services in Whitehorse to prioritize Emergency Disaster Services (EDS), with Community Services programming set to conclude on April 1, 2026.

This transition follows an ongoing review of services, community needs, and long-term sustainability. Over time, Community Services have been gradually reduced as the organization adapts to changing capacity and resources.

Programs previously offered in Whitehorse included emergency food assistance, the Voluntary Income Tax Program, and seasonal supports such as Christmas assistance. These services supported approximately 58 families per month through food assistance.

Clients have been informed of these changes, and efforts are underway to ensure individuals and families are aware of other community resources available to them.

The Salvation Army will continue to maintain a presence in Whitehorse through Emergency Disaster Services, providing practical assistance, emotional support, and care during times of crisis.

The organization remains committed to working alongside community partners to support those in need across Whitehorse.
