The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory works in over 400 communities to support vulnerable people with access to essential needs. With over 140 years of service in Canada, The Salvation Army provides hunger relief through food banks, community meals, and feeding programs; shelter and housing support for people who are unhoused, rehabilitation services for individuals struggling with substance use disorder; Emergency Disaster Services teams that respond to people in crisis with practical and emotional and spiritual support; and much more.

Yes, no matter how an individual self-identifies, we serve them in the same manner as any other person seeking assistance. We are aware and grieved that the 2SLGBTQIA+ community often experiences barriers and injustice when seeking help. The Salvation Army seeks to be a welcome, safe place for all who need us.
- What is The Salvation Army doing to educate and inform staff on inclusivity?
We provide training to staff on inclusion, cultural sensitivity, and unconscious bias, vehemently oppose hateful and discriminatory speech and behaviour, and modify spaces and language, when possible, to be accessible to all people.
