Food Services

Feeding People in Need

Food is the common thread running through most of our work. We help everyone who comes to us without discrimination, based on our capacity to serve.

People most at risk of experiencing food insecurity include the elderly, children, single mothers, people living with disabilities, newcomers to Canada, and Black and Indigenous families.

Here’s how your support helps us feed vulnerable people in more than 400 communities across Canada:

Food Banks

Salvation Army food banks provide non-perishable and fresh food (when available) to anyone experiencing food shortage. This assistance often starts a conversation around getting more comprehensive support from one our many community programs and services.

Community Meals

Salvation Army community meal programs serve nutritious food to people who may be experiencing hardship or loneliness. Everyone is welcome to eat in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

School Meals

Snacks and meals offered to children through The Salvation Army’s school nutrition programs alleviate hunger and improve focus in the classroom. Those who eat well get better grades and are more likely to graduate.
