Virtual Summer Camp

Summer 2020 has looked very different around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For youth in British Columbia, unfortunately this meant that they would not be able to participate in the usual summer camps that our B.C. Youth Department hosts at Camp Mountainview and Camp Sunrise.

Understanding the impact of remaining connected and the importance of sharing ministry with youth around the province, the department decided to move camp from the cabins and campfires to a virtual setting. Held every other Thursday evening participants from previous years of camp have been invited to virtual camp sessions where a schedule of activities helps them reunite with old friends, stay engaged with The Salvation Army, and have some fun during the summer months.

Since starting in the first week of June the Youth Department has been really excited to see the same type of connections that occur at camp happening online. “We didn’t think that would be possible,” says Children and Youth Program Coordinator Caitlin West.

Campers who would like to get involved before the last session on August 20, 2020 can contact the Youth Department at BCYD@can.salvationarmy.org for more information.
