A BBQ and day of fun at The Salvation Army Nelson.

The Salvation Army Nelson hosted a hot dog barbecue and offered tours of the facility on May 27th in an effort to share the services available at the downtown Nelson location.

Social service worker students, Alita Tondu and Monica Fernandes are currently finishing their practicum at The Salvation Army.

“As part of our practicum we organized this event to promote community awareness on the struggles of poor and marginalized peoples of Nelson,” said Fernandes.

Tables out front the store, located at 601 Vernon Street, with information boards demonstrated the variety of services supplied by The Salvation Army, as well as a bake sale and balloon creations by Bubbles the Clown.

Everyone was welcome and a day of enjoyment and community was had!
