Working with BOB.
In December, local organization BOB recognized fellow agency — The Salvation Army Belkin House — for their outstanding contribution in the consistent improvement to the lives of local residents along with the spirit of communication and cooperation shown.
Thank you to BOB for taking the time to acknowledge Belkin House for their great work in the community by providing housing and transitional assistance to those who need it.
The Salvation Army Belkin House works in partnership with BOB by lending referrals to BOB’s program and by helping those who need it in our local communities.
About Bob:
Based inVancouver, British Columbia, Building Opportunities with Business (BOB) is a non-profit organization with the goal to support local business development and increase job opportunities for inner-city residents. The inner-city communities encompassVancouver’s birthplace and include Chinatown, Strathcona, Oppenheimer,Victory Square, Gastown,Mount Pleasantand Downtown South. Rich in history, these important neighbourhoods offer numerous parks and public spaces, they contain creative and cultural districts, posses heritage structures and key infrastructure assets and most importantly of all a diverse and talented multi-cultural population. The downtown eastside has known prosperity but has seen economic decline over the years.
Today, revitalization and regeneration is occurring in the downtown eastside. Residents, businesses, community groups, governments and myriad organizations are working together to ensure that the local residents and businesses benefit from this renewed interest and investment in the area. BOB, along with our partners, is championing this Revitalization Without Displacement, or as it is also referred to, Inclusive Revitalization.
