The Salvation Army Delivers Hope to Residents After Shelter Fire

In response to a recent devastating fire at Brantford’s largest emergency shelter, The Salvation Army stepped up and provided critical support to those impacted.

The fire, which occurred on September 17, 2024, left 40 residents displaced and in need of nutritious food.

As an innovative partner, The Salvation Army Brantford Booth Centre staff prepared and served 25 lunches and 25 dinners daily to Rosewood House residents until temporary accommodations were located.

“The Salvation Army is there when it matters most and it means the world to me that we can assist those who truly need support,” said Don Dimuthu, food service manager at The Salvation Army Hamilton Halton Brant Housing and Support Services.

The dedicated staff and volunteers at the Brantford Booth Centre are committed to supporting Rosewood House for as long as it takes to help residents get back on their feet.

“We are deeply saddened by the fire at our partner agency, Rosewood House, and grateful for the critical work they do for Brantford’s homeless community,” said James Moulton, regional executive director of Hamilton Halton Brant Housing and Support Services. “In addition to meals, The Salvation Army’s spiritual care teams are offering comfort and support to those facing hardship during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to those affected, and we remain devoted to providing compassionate care to help them rebuild their lives.”
