Toyota Canada Donation Stocks Woodstock Community Church Food Bank
Food bank shelves at The Salvation Army Woodstock Community Church are now well-stocked thanks to a $10,000 donation from Toyota Canada.
Going into the Christmas season, the funds allow The Salvation Army to give back to the community in keeping clients fed, as food bank usage is increasing in Woodstock.
“This donation will go toward the purchasing essential food bank supplies and vital items like cereal, snacks, pasta and pasta sauce. The donation also fills Christmas hampers,” says Woodstock Community Church Community Ministries Coordinator Noel A. Sterne.
With rising food costs and inflation, 958 people are now using the Woodstock Community Church food bank every month, an increase from 301 monthly visitors in 2019.
“We have always had enough food donations to keep our shelves stocked, but now we’re having to purchase food regularly. Donations are down and the demand is rising,” Neil says.
Food donations are being accepted to help The Salvation Army Woodstock Community Church provide support through the Christmas season. Dedicated volunteers are also needed to guide clients through the food bank shopping process, along with unpacking, sorting, and stocking food. Volunteers can also sign up to work at Christmas Kettles this holiday season.
“We believe in people’s ability to change things for the better, and that every improvement, regardless of size, is worthwhile. We see these qualities reflected in how your organization makes a difference in our community,” says Suzanne Baal, Senior Manager of Human Resources at Toyota Canada.
