The Salvation Army Spiritual Café in Timmins Offers Prayer and Conversation

The Salvation Army in Timmins runs a Spiritual Café drop in three times a week located at 259 Third Avenue, to provide anyone a warm and welcoming place to gather and share the gospel.

The drop-in is available Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm until 3 pm where snacks and beverages are offered.

“Those that attend Spiritual Café are people that really want to make changes in their lives. We can assist them with getting their ID and we offer casework. We can put them in touch with housing workers and connect them to other programs where people can get the support they need,” said Paul Bedard, Salvation Army Community and Family Services worker in Kirkland Lake and Timmins.

Paul says 5 to 12 people attend Spiritual Café regularly and its been growing over the last 2 years.

Over 50 volunteers from various churches in the community come to support the Spiritual Café and other programs at The Salvation Army in Timmins, including a meal on Wednesday and Sunday.

George visits the Spiritual Café often and says he enjoys it very much. “I come to the Spiritual Café because I like the prayer I receive from them. It’s a quiet, peaceful and safe place for me. It’s my Church home. I like the volunteers, the food, the snacks, the tea and coffee. I would like the hours to be longer so I can come more often. I also like the live music night on Saturdays and all the snacks.”
