The Salvation Army is Building Relationships with Sports Teams in Ottawa and Hamilton
The Salvation Army continues to build community relationships with professional CFL teams in Ottawa and Hamilton. In September and October, we engaged community while providing fun activities during Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa RedBlacks football games.
During the Ottawa RedBlacks game, The Salvation Army Ottawa Citadel Brass Band took to the field and played the National Anthem and Salvation Army staff families were welcomed on the field to watch players warm-up. There was also community engagement through games prior to kick-off.
In Oskee Wee Wee territory, our official mascot Shieldy, greeted fans and posed for photos while staff and mission partners handed out give-aways at Ticats games.
The Salvation Army continued to build community relations during the Tiger-Cats Faith and Family Night where after the game families watched live player interviews as they discussed their faith with team Chaplain Steve Kearns.
To close the evening out, Salvation Army guests were invited on the field and enjoyed playing games, face painting and other fun activities while watching a movie on the digital screen.
