Salvation Army in Guelph Receives Nearly $14,000 from HomeLife Power Realty Golf Tournament

A local realty company in Guelph raised nearly $14,000 for The Salvation Army’s Community and Family Services programs at their annual golf tournament.

HomeLife Power Realty hosted the tournament on July 11th, 2022 at the Victoria Park East Golf Club, with 76 golfers taking part. The tournament began over 20 years ago with the goal of donating to various community charities.

“We have a great partnership with HomeLife Power Realty, and we are so appreciative to have been chosen this year’s charity of choice,” said Tim Zekveld, Salvation Army Director of Operations in Guelph.

HomeLife Power Realty Broker and Tournament Organizer Jackie Harrison says The Salvation Army does amazing things for the city of Guelph in helping the community wherever they can. “Tim was the first person to ask if members of their charity could attend the tournament and that really impressed us.”

“It was a fun day and we had great weather. We heard participants say they had a great time, and the day was very relaxed,” said Tim. “We had great representation from our staff, volunteers and members of our congregation.”

The funds raised at the tournament will help send kids to camp, fill food bank shelves and help fund our housing program for those in the Guelph/Wellington County.

“We would love to thank HomeLife Power Realty for partnering with us, as well as all the participants, sponsors, and donors,” said Tim. “We look forward to seeing everyone back next July.”

“We might be a smaller partner of The Salvation Army, but it takes an army of people to help everyone in the community,” said Jackie. “We are a small company, but we like to give back. Giving even a little to The Salvation Army goes a long way.”
