The Salvation Army is supporting families affected by a fire which damaged 36 townhouse units in the Mississauga’s Meadowvale neighbourhood on June 5th.

The Salvation Army has set up a pop-up shop at their Community and Family Services building located near the affected townhouses. Those in need can drop by and pick-up free clothing, hygiene and household items.  The food bank is also open to anyone.

So far 12 households have been assisted with items and the pop-up shop will be open until the end of next week.  Vouchers to Salvation Army Thrift Stores will be offered to those who continue to need more support.

“We have seen so much community support. People have been dropping off donated items such as bags of clothing.  It has been truly amazing to see,” said Community and Family Services Director Joel Binner. “At the end of the day I had a huge smile on my face as I was so impressed with the work of our staff, volunteers and the greater community.”
