EDS volunteers are on the job with cold weather response

During periods of extreme cold temperatures, EDS volunteers hit the streets of London to provide hot chocolate and snacks to anyone out in the cold needing help to warm up. Teams have been out four times, so far, in 2022. The team takes the Community Response Unit to serve drinks and snacks and, on occasion, will take an EDS van out to deliver blankets, hats, mitts, and scarves.

This service is on top of the weekly Operation Mobilizing Hope program run by The Salvation Army London Citadel every Wednesday night, providing a hot meal along and warm clothing to those in need. To date, EDS has been out four times and provided hot chocolate to about 150 people, while Operation Mobilizing Hope has provided just over 300 hot dinners.
