TORONTO, Ontario—The Salvation Army Ontario Division kicks off the Christmas season with the launch of the 2021 Kettle campaign on Thursday, November 18 at the Distillery Winter Village in Toronto’s Distillery District.

A ceremonial first donation in the world’s largest 35-foot-tall Salvation Army Christmas Kettle will take place followed by entertainment from Salvation Army brass bands and choirs will enhance the Christmas spirit for everyone.

Running from Nov. 18 to Dec. 24, The Salvation Army’s iconic Christmas Kettle campaign has a goal to raise $12 million in Ontario for life-changing programs and services for people in communities across the province.

“The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is our largest annual fundraising drive, and we encourage you to ensure this important work continues across the province and in your own local community, for your friends and your neighbours,” says Glenn van Gulik, Ontario Divisional Secretary for Public Relations. “Starting today, you will see Christmas kettles at malls, grocery stores and street corners near you. Every donation, no matter how small, makes all the difference to those in need.”

The Salvation Army in Ontario is pleased to partner with the Distillery Winter Village as a charity of choice for the launch of our Christmas Kettle campaign. We are also a key partner with tiptap, a payment solution which makes contactless donations to Christmas Kettles safe and easy.

“We are honoured to support The Salvation Army once again this year with our simple, secure solution for touchless giving™ ,” said Chris Greenfield, CEO and Founder of tiptap. “Our focus at tiptap is making it easier for community-based organizations that have long depended on in-person, cash donations to navigate in an increasingly digital, cashless society. The Kettle Campaign is an iconic symbol of the giving season and we’re pleased to provide a solution that allows Canadians to give safely and securely, even when they’re not carrying cash.”

All funds remain in the community in which they are donated, assisting individuals and families trying to overcome homelessness, food insecurity, addictions and unemployment. Together in 2020, we helped over 1.1 million individuals and families in Ontario with life’s challenges. Everyone needs an Army.
