The Salvation Army Opens its Doors to The City of Hamilton Vaccination Clinics

As a proud, long-standing community partner in the City of Hamilton, The Salvation Army opened its doors for two of the city’s COVID-19 Mobile Vaccination Clinics in local churches from April 19th to 21st 2021, to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Mountain Citadel and Meadowlands Community Church played a critical part in this strategic initiative because of their location while assisting the city’s efforts with their vaccination capacity.

“The Salvation Army will continue to be a community partner and is always ready to assist when called upon to provide assistance through these challenging times,” said Glenn van Gulik, The Salvation Army Divisional Secretary for Public Relations. “We can all do our part to support each other, and The Salvation Army is so pleased to help in this way, here in Hamilton and in communities throughout Ontario.”

The Salvation Army is also encouraging its own staff and clients to be vaccinated when they are eligible in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our centres and throughout the community.

“Both of our community churches were happy to support the City of Hamilton’s Public Health Department by utilizing our space for their roll out of vaccinations, said Dan Millar, The Salvation Army Divisional Director of Community Partnerships.  “The Meadowlands Community Church is in a strategic location for COVID-19 vaccinations in the city. Our building has not been used during the COVID-19 pandemic and this was a great way to support our community by opening our doors so people could receive their vaccine.”

The Salvation Army is located in over 100 communities in Ontario providing basic necessities such as food and clothing as well as emotional and spiritual support throughout the year.

In Hamilton, those services also include a men’s shelter, transitional housing, supports for pregnant and young parents, support services for adults with developmental disabilities and our Thrift Stores.
