Salvation Army in Gananoque Partners With Local Restaurant To Provide Meals for Community
The small community of Gananoque is coming together to support and care for each other during these difficult times, including The Salvation Army, which is continuing to serve the community of Gananoque with new and unique ideas.
While community members may not be able to come together and meet to discuss what their needs may be, phone calls are being made by Salvation Army staff to check-in and ensure that their emotional, physical and spiritual needs are being met.
Executive Director of The Salvation Army in Gananoque, David Harvey says “Everyone is looking after each other, and The Salvation Army is helping wherever we can.”
One area where The Salvation Army in Gananoque is helping support the community is through the Manna Café. The Café provides a free lunch throughout the week and is a frequent stop for many in the community.
With the current regulations regarding group gatherings, the Manna Café has been unable to serve lunches at their facility.
In order to meet the need for meals throughout the week due to the Café’s closure, The Salvation Army in Gananoque has partnered with a local restaurant to provide meals at a reduced cost.
“People are able to go to Moroni’s Restaurant and receive a meal where The Salvation Army covers a portion of the cost,” said David.
The Gananoque Salvation Army Thrift Store is also finding unique ways to support the community, despite being closed. The Thrift Store is providing materials such as sheets and blankets for community members who are creating masks.
Gananoque is coming together to support their friends and neighbours with the help of The Salvation Army. If you like to support the work of The Salvation Army please visit http://www.salvationarmy.ca or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
