National Advisory Board Tours Salvation Army Facilities in Calgary

The National Advisory Board (NAB) recently visited Calgary, offering encouragement and support to several key Salvation Army centres in the area. Their trip included stops at the Forest Lawn Community Resource Centre, the downtown Booth Centre, and the Barbara Mitchell Family Resource Centre, each serving as crucial hubs for meeting the diverse needs of Calgary’s vulnerable populations.

At Forest Lawn, NAB members witnessed firsthand the impact of outreach programs for low-income families and individuals. Their next stop, the Booth Centre, offered insight into emergency shelter and rehabilitation services, highlighting The Salvation Army’s role in providing housing and support for those experiencing homelessness. The final visit to the Barbara Mitchell Family Resource Centre showcased programs empowering women suffering from homelessness, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to fostering a strong, inclusive community.

The NABs tour concluded with a special dinner hosted by the NAB itself, with prominent guest speaker Chief Wilton Littlechild.
