Mothers and Children Thrive—thanks to you!
It’s impossible to imagine the fear and overwhelming burden many young mothers and children experience in rural Kenya West. Not long ago, Mama Gladys* and her family were among them. Like thousands of other young moms in the region, malaria, lack of clean water, limited access to health care and economic hardship kept her family locked in a deadly cycle of poverty she couldn’t escape on her own.
Today, Mama Gladys and thousands of mothers like her have hope. The compassionate support of The Salvation Army and its generous donors has enabled the Integrated Mother & Child Health Development Project to help entire communities thrive for the first time by providing families with greater access to essential health services, clean water and economic opportunities to create a stable, sustainable future.
“My children now sleep under treated mosquito nets and no longer fall sick with malaria,” Mama Gladys says. “My family also receives medication and medical care. So, now I can use the money I save to feed my family. Thanks to The Salvation Army, my children are healthy, clothed and safe.”
Thanks to the generosity of The Salvation Army’s incredible donors, more than 10,000 women, young children and other vulnerable people can now access essential health services, including immunizations, maternal care, treatment for common diseases and health education. Lives are being saved and stronger, healthier communities are being built.
There’s still so much need in this region of Kenya. Together, we can give more mothers and children a healthier, more hopeful future.
