Blessings of the Harvest Season

The Salvation Army Penticton recently received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan to create a child care centre at our new Community Kitchen.

The Community Kitchen, which operates out of The Salvation Army Church at 2469 South Main in Penticton, is a place for volunteer mentors and participants to come together to teach and learn new cooking / preserving methods, household budgeting along with nutritional solutions for a well balanced meal.

Harvest Season has just begun and participants at the Salvation Army Community Kitchen are spending days canning, jamming, dehydrating and freezing local organic produce through the tutelage of local mentors.  Additionally, wonderful new play equipment and toys are available for children to enjoy  while their parents are busy in the kitchen!
