
Georgia Stavridis appointed to Greater Vancouver Advisory Board
The Greater Vancouver Advisory Board recently welcomed our newest member, Georgia Stavridis. Considered one of the most influential women in finance in British Colombia according to BC Business Magazine in 2019, Georgia has more than 20 years experience working at HSBC.
In her career at the bank, she held several senior compliance positions: Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Crimes Compliance, Director of Anti-Money Laundering, and Director of Compliance for the Trust and Mutual Funds business, among other positions of great relevance in the financial entity.
During her time in the role, Georgia guided business and risk owners in their financial crime risk management, ensuring that management was fully aware, accountable, and complied with the rules and regulations in its operational mission and direct line of responsibility.
In addition to the financial system, Georgia has experience in the legal area, and she also worked at a law firm in Canada in a client-focused role in corporate fiduciary financial services.
In her academic background, Georgia Stavridis holds a BA from the University of British Columbia and an LLB from the University of Victoria. Georgia was also honoured with the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) award in the 2018 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award in the KPMG Professionals category.
