New Program is music to our ears!

A new weekly music program started on Friday, May 18th at the Addiction & Rehabilitation Centre, 525 Johnson Street in Victoria.

Friday Afternoon Music Jam is a drop in music therapy program open to one and all and is designed to support through positive expression.

The Salvation Army has always had a strong musical element in our history and knows firsthand the power that music can have in increasing self-confidence, building healthy social ties, mentorship and most importantly, a unique way to express yourself in an artistic medium.

It became evident that there was a real need in theVictoriacommunity for a program such as this as soon as staff at ARC noticed the residents using the facility’s piano and their personal instruments in impromptu practices sessions in the Chapel.  A dedicated program will allow sharing of musical expertise, offer additional instruments and the creation of a musically focused community in the Facility.

We would like to thank Long & McQuade for their support of this program through discounted instrument rental fees.
