Offering Spiritual Care

Churches

The Salvation Army is an international Christian church. In Canada, The Salvation Army’s first worship services were held in 1882 in Toronto and today, we have over 300 corps/churches across the country. Salvation Army churches not only focus on worship, Christian education and other congregational activities, but also provide practical assistance and spiritual guidance to their communities.

Chaplaincy

As a Christian church, spiritual and religious care is central to our mission. The Salvation Army provides spiritual and religious care in all of its social service settings, most often through the use of Chaplains.
Chaplains are trained to assist individuals to identify, affirm, and use their own spiritual and religious beliefs, human values, and faith to support, sustain, and inform them in times of crisis, need or recovery.
