Lt.-Col Jamie Braund speaks to luncheon attendees

Victoria Advisory Board Gains Insight into Youth and Shelter Programs

On May 28, 2025, The Salvation Army welcomed donors, supporters and advisory board members to the William and Catherine Booth Society Luncheon at Victoria’s Union Club. This gathering celebrated a shared commitment to serving neighbours across Greater Victoria through practical support and partnership.

Advisory board members continue to play a vital role in strengthening community connections and help bridge resources to The Salvation Army’s programs. Their dedication amplifies our collective ability to address local needs, from youth initiatives, such as Camp Mountainview and Camp Sunrise, where children experience unconditional love through patient mentorship and team activities, to housing stability and safe shelter.

Attendees reflected on how community generosity creates tangible change. Stories shared highlighted the quiet resilience of families accessing shelter programs and youth discovering a sense of belonging at camp. These moments remind us that hope grows through sustained partnership.

In a touching conclusion to the afternoon, Bruce Donaldson, chair of the Victoria Advisory Board took a moment to recognize Lieut.-Colonel Jamie Braund, divisional commander in the British Columbia Division. Donaldson thanked him for his dedicated service to the community, as this marked his final William and Catherine Booth Society Luncheon before retirement.
