Venezuela Earthquake Support: Update 2

The humanitarian impact of the earthquakes in Venezuela continues to deepen. As the situation remains intense, The Salvation Army’s response is beginning to move beyond immediate relief alone. Early  recovery priorities are becoming clearer as communities begin the long process of restoration.

Situation Overview

The humanitarian situation remains extremely challenging. As of 21 July, the official death toll has reached 5,346 while nearly 18,000 people remain without permanent housing. Many affected communities continue to face significant challenges related to displacement, loss of livelihoods, damaged infrastructure, and ongoing uncertainty regarding missing family members.

While immediate relief needs remain substantial, conversations with communities continue to highlight growing early recovery needs, particularly in relation to shelter, livelihoods, children’s wellbeing, and access to basic services.

To date, The Salvation Army’s support includes:

• 1,947 food parcels
• 1,006 meals
• 2,000 meals
• 393 emotional and spiritual care conversations
• 1,986 bottles of water

Support is also being provided to first responders, including refreshments, hygiene supplies and practical assistance as they continue their work in difficult conditions.

With 6,537 families receiving support, The Salvation Army is deeply grateful for generous donors whose kindness is ensuring that aid reaches families where it is needed most.
