Generous Gift Supports Beaver Creek Camp Upgrades

“Our experience with The Salvation Army has been positive and encouraging from the very beginning” recalls Murray Neufeld as he reflects on his family’s history with The Salvation Army which has lasted more than sixty years. Murray remembers joining his father Harold at Beaver Creek Camp as a teenager, when the two of them made a trip to see a cabin Harold’s company built and delivered to the campsite. For Murray, the camp visit marked the beginning of a meaningful partnership with The Salvation Army that has inspired his whole family to give.

As young adults, Murray and his wife Audrey reflected on how their giving could make a lasting impact. They saw firsthand the difference The Salvation Army’s programs were making in the Saskatoon area and wanted to ensure that programs would continue uninterrupted. Through their support, The Salvation Army has been able to strengthen community programming, and Beaver Creek Camp continues to flourish thanks to the Murray & Audrey Neufeld Charitable Foundation.

This year their giving will help with cabin renovations, upgrades to the playground and sporting areas, as well as an addition of a gazebo for shade. “We are excited to be partners with the camp, as they welcome children from all communities” say the Neufeld’s, knowing these meaningful changes will be enjoyed for many more years to come as children tackle important life lessons and learn values rooted in the Bible.

Because of his positive experience as a donor, Murray encourages others to give to the work of The Salvation Army. “The organization truly cares about people!” he states with confidence.

In addition to a variety of camps and retreats held at Beaver Creek, the Salvation Army’s programs in Saskatoon include: food security programs, supports for students including backpacks, school and summer feeding programs, casework for families through the Pathway of Hope program, emergency shelter and transitional housing, justice programs, budget management and Christmas assistance.
