The Salvation Army Ontario Division welcomes new EDS coordinator
On January 17th, 2022, the Ontario division welcomed Theresa Antonietti as the new Coordinator of Emergency Disaster Services. Theresa joins us with years of related skills and experience, possessing a deep knowledge and understanding of both The Salvation Army and its Emergency Disaster Services programs. As a former Salvation Army officer, Theresa knows first-hand the difference EDS can make in the lives of those looking for assistance and support.
Theresa has experienced the full range of emergency management responsibilities, from field work after major hurricanes, to the detailed, foresight-demanding process that goes into preparedness and response.
She was instrumental in the drafting of the Ottawa area’s Memorandum of Understanding; a document outlining the responsibilities of the City, Ottawa Fire and Police Departments, the Red Cross, and The Salvation Army’s separate and collaborative roles in emergency response, with the aim of managing risk while facilitating effective recovery efforts.
Having been deployed to Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey, Hurricane Ike in Texas, and at ground zero following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York City, Theresa’s passion and experience in ministry through Emergency Disaster Services deployments will undoubtedly serve her well in this new role. Theresa was also the Incident Commander for The Salvation Army’s response in Gambo, NL during 9/11. She was also featured in a recent interview on 60-Minutes Australia.

In her spare time, Theresa and her husband, Bob, love to spend time wit their 2 darling grandsons, Lincoln, and Griffin. They enjoy spending as much time as they can in their trailer up at the lake, or just walking their dog, Bailey.
