CTV Toy Mountain and The Salvation Army Create Christmas Magic for Children; Support families across the Greater Toronto Area
With the support of thousands of generous individuals, organizations, and community partners, 71,000 children received more than 256,000 toys from the 2023 CTV Toy Mountain campaign, a partnership with The Salvation Army that is in its 28th year.
In the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), children woke up to a festive Christmas morning thanks to the remarkable commitment of Salvation Army sponsors and mission partners. These extraordinary efforts ensured that every child in need received a gift under the tree, in addition to stuffed animals, books, and stocking stuffers this holiday season.
New, unwrapped toys were collected at locations across the GTA, while financial donations to CTV’s Toy Mountain Campaign meant even more toys for children. In communities across the GTA, 2023 presented significant challenges as people felt the impact of inflation and the rising cost of living, resulting in new households and children seeking the support of The Salvation Army for the first time.
“With the continued and growing need for support for families and children across the GTA, the Toy Mountain Campaign is an innovative partnership between CTV and The Salvation Army that provides joy for children and support for parents during the holiday season,” says Erin Boyle, Public Relations Officer for the GTA with The Salvation Army Ontario Division.
With the rising cost of living and increasing numbers of new households seeking the support of The Salvation Army, the outcome of the campaign extends far beyond a toy.
“A toy allows The Salvation Army to connect and build relationships with families and individuals within the community who are struggling in other aspects and can lead to additional life-changing supports through The Salvation Army’s vital year-round programs and services,” Boyle says.
The Salvation Army expresses gratitude to our new and returning mission partners, donors, corporate sponsors, malls, businesses, and individuals whose contributions bring joy to children’s lives.
The Salvation Army continues to see overwhelming generosity extend beyond the conclusion of the campaign with hundreds of donations collected in the days after Christmas. These toys are critically important for distribution to families in the early part of the next holiday season and the return of the 2024 CTV Toy Mountain Campaign.
