
The Salvation Army Joins Feed Ontario as Member Agency in Simcoe
The Salvation Army Simcoe Community and Family Services is pleased to announce an innovative partnership with Feed Ontario, which will help struggling individuals and families put nutritious meals on their tables.
“Partnering with Feed Ontario allows The Salvation Army Simcoe Community and Family Services to address the growing demand for food assistance in Norfolk County. This collaboration means we can redirect funds that were previously allocated for food purchases into supporting life-changing programs and services that benefit the entire community,” said Terri Simmons, Community and Family Services Manager with The Salvation Army in Simcoe.
This innovative partnership with Feed Ontario aligns perfectly with The Salvation Army’s 140-year tradition serving the communities of Norfolk County by providing consistent access to healthy and nutritious food for those The Salvation Army serves.
So far in 2023, more than 2,500 people in Norfolk County have received food assistance from The Salvation Army, while 162 new clients have requested help because of the high cost of living. Through this partnership with Feed Ontario, The Salvation Army can support even more people in need in the community.
In addition to provincial programs, being a member of Feed Ontario also provides The Salvation Army in Simcoe with access to various national food sharing and grant programs as an affiliate member of Food Banks Canada.
“Feed Ontario is proud to welcome The Salvation Army in Simcoe to the provincial food bank network,” said Amanda King, Senior Director, Network Services. “By working together, we can help to ensure that more families facing financial hardship and hunger are able to access nutritious food and support.”
Feed Ontario represents a network of 1,200 direct and affiliate hunger-relief organizations who are united in their goal of serving those in need. All organizations are required to abide by provincial and national service standards, including best practices related to quality care and organizational excellence.
Feed Ontario works to address hunger and poverty by delivering fresh and healthy food, developing innovative programs, and advocating for change through research. The Salvation Army is delighted to join forces with Feed Ontario to serve the communities of Norfolk County.
