The Salvation Army Mississauga Community Church is on the road with Church on Wheels! Funded with a Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory Innovation Grant, Church on Wheels is a mobile canteen vehicle which is also bringing the word of God to residents of Mississauga.
“Church on Wheels will help us fulfill the mission of The Salvation Army, but more importantly it’s going to help us share the love of Jesus. As we minister in our community, we want to share hope, love our neighbours and transform lives,” says Mississauga Community Church Cawthra Corps Officer, Captain Jeff Arkell.
Church on Wheels will be making stops in the neighbourhoods of Cawthra, Meadowvale and The Collegeway, where The Salvation Army Mississauga Community Church has a presence.
“We call this Church on Wheels because we believe a church is not a building. We believe we are the church so we will be taking this trailer with us into the community in Mississauga to join Jesus where he is already at work,” says Mirna Dirani, Mississauga Community Church The Collegeway Corps Officer.
Meals, snacks and beverages can be served from the mobile canteen vehicle. Volunteers are needed to help make meals and support the Church on Wheels ministry in Mississauga.
“This new ministry will provide opportunities to serve, such as feeding programs, outreach and evangelism events and opportunities to serve college and university students. We will also be able to have fundraising events,” says Mississauga Community Church Cawthra Corps Officer Graciela Arkell.
By partnering with other churches and mission-focused ministries, Church on Wheels will reach more people and more communities in the city, says Mississauga Community Church The Collegeway Corps Officer, Tharwat Eskander.
“If you would like to partner with us, volunteer your cooking skills, make coffee, offer a smile or a helping hand, please connect with us to be part of our team.”
