Individuals staying at The Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope men’s shelter now have onsite access to supplies thanks to a recent donation.

A Salvation Army supporter in Windsor recently donated over $20,000 to fund industrial pallet racking to expand the storage capacity for the Centre of Hope men’s shelter. An additional $10,000 was received for the life changing Housing with Supports program.

There is now space for 96 pallets in the 2400 sq. ft. former gym that combines the storage space with the food bank and Community and Family Services offices.

“We have the ability to receive and store substantially more product, food and clothing for men than we could prior to this donation,” said Major Danny Pinksen, Executive Director of the Windsor Centre of Hope.

In January, the Community and Family Services office was damaged in a fire that required storing of supplies at The Salvation Army Citadel in south Windsor.

The new onsite storage has three times the capacity of the previous space, with better access for clients utilizing the food bank.

With more space available for goods, donations of food, good used men’s clothing and supplies are being accepted at the Windsor Centre of Hope.

“This donation from a community partner will go a long way and we are very appreciative of the support. We encourage community members to continue to donate because their contributions help provide dignity to our shelter residents,” said Major Danny.

Donations can be dropped off at 355 Church Street in Windsor.
