Members of Greater Vancouver Advisory Board Support Launch of New Langley Salvation Army Thrift Store
On August 7, 2025, the long-awaited grand opening of the new Salvation Army thrift store in Langley, B.C., officially took place with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 19700 Langley Bypass. Among those in attendance were Greater Vancouver Advisory Board members Robert McFarlane (chair) and Dave Cunningham, showing their support for the new location.
The grand opening ceremony brought together staff, local dignitaries and a line of eager shoppers waiting at the door. Ted Troughton, managing director of National Recycling Operations, spoke about how the store assists the community, not only through proceeds that fund local social services, but also by serving as a vibrant community hub.
“Some will just come in for the community, and this might be the highlight of their day,” says Troughton.
McFarlane and Cunningham joined the store tour and took part in the grand opening ceremony, marking a meaningful moment as the doors were officially opened to the community. Their presence underscored the advisory board’s commitment to encouraging accessible, community-focused initiatives across Metro Vancouver.

This new Langley thrift store represents more than just a place for bargains; it’s a space where community connection, sustainability and local support come together. With the continued support of the Greater Vancouver Advisory Board and community members, the store is positioned to make a lasting impact in Langley for years to come.
