
Halifax Regional Municipality Christmas Assistance
The Salvation Army Atlantic Division provides Christmas assistance, such as toys and food support, for children and families in need.
For the Halifax Regional Municipality – From October 23 to December 8, 2025 you can register online for Christmas Assistance.
Please note that all applications for this year must be submitted online. Those who submit an application after the December 8 deadline will be placed on a wait list.

Important Information To Gather/Understand Before Starting Application
To determine eligibility for Christmas Assistance with The Salvation Army, proof of income is required for all adults (18 and older) in the household, including adult children living at home.
Income Eligibility
To qualify, your household must fall within the following income limits:
- 1 person household: $33,312
- Family of 2: $41,808
- Family of 3: $51,396
- Family of 4: $62,400
- Family of 5: $70,776
- Family of 6: $79,812
- Family of 7: $88,860
- $8,496 per person after
Acceptable Proof of Income (for every adult in the household)
- 2024 Tax Assessment (line 15000)
- Proof of 2025 student enrollment
- Recent landing documents for newcomers (within 1 year)
- Current Income Support

Proof of Child Eligibility (for Christmas gifts)
- CRA Child Tax Benefit screenshot for all children under 18
- CRA custody screenshot (other custody paperwork/court orders cannot be accepted)

Program Details
- Approved families will receive a link by the end of November to schedule an appointment.
- Each household will receive a grocery gift card.
- Children ages 0–10: Choose gifts at Santa’s Workshop.
- Children ages 11–16: Receive a Walmart gift card.
Important Notes
Only the parent/guardian listed on the CRA account for the child(ren) may receive support. If you choose not to provide full income and Child Tax Benefit information, you are welcome to contact your local food bank or register with another organization. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Missing information will require a full re-submission.
