Make a Difference This GivingTuesday

The holidays are often seen as a time for giving. Many people rush to stores and spend hundreds on gifts for their friends and family.

While for some, Christmas can be filled with joy and celebration, it can also be stressful for those struggling with financial hardship or trying to make ends meet.

Today, December 2, marks this year’s GivingTuesday, an annual event that encourages people across the world to do good.

The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda commemorates the day each year by building partnerships that help enhance its services for people experiencing hunger, homelessness and hardship.

“In my teens after my dad passed, I heard a knock on the door and it was The Salvation Army with food and toys.”

As in previous years, any donation made to The Salvation Army on GivingTuesday will be matched, making each contribution twice as impactful.

In addition, donations made by Dec 25, 2025, will be matched by Calidon Equipment Leasing, up to $100,000.

Donations also help support Christmas programs offered by Salvation Army locations nationwide, allowing many families to enjoy a meaningful holiday season.

Many donors give back as a form of gratitude to the organization.

“I donate because I have the ability to do so.”

“When I was young, in my teens after my dad passed, I heard a knock on the door and it was The Salvation Army with food and toys. Since then, I donate whenever I can,” Max (not his real name) shares.

Others, who are more fortunate, give purely out of generosity.

“I donate every year at this time because I have the ability to do so,” Alexa (not her real name) adds.

Thanks to the support of donors, last year, The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda served 4.8 million meals, assisted 2.1 million people with food, clothing, and practical assistance, and provided 8,350 beds each night for vulnerable individuals and families.
