Donating Life Insurance to The Salvation Army

Your gift of a new or existing life insurance policy to The Salvation Army, you’re turning a small commitment into a significant gift.
Gifting your insurance policy means there are no administrative costs or probate fees. Your gift has no effect on your estate’s assets. And you’ll receive a charitable tax receipt that can be used in your lifetime, or for your estate.

There are different ways to support The Salvation Army through gifts of life insurance:

  • Purchase a new or change an existing life insurance policy and include The Governing Council of The Salvation Army as beneficiary.
  • If you’d like to receive immediate tax savings on the donation of an existing policy, you can transfer ownership to The Governing Council of The Salvation Army in Canada and make the Army the policy’s beneficiary. A portion of your policy’s value will be taxable as income, but you will receive a tax receipt to help offset taxes payable.
