Clean Water Transforms Lives in Kenya West

Due in part to limited access to clean water, mothers and children in Kenya West face life-threatening health challenges. Access to clean water is more than a basic need—it’s essential for good health, safety and creating better futures.

Thanks to the support of generous Salvation Army donors, The Salvation Army’s Integrated Mother & Child Health Development Project in Kenya West has built four boreholes, which supply clean water and improved sanitation to more than 12,000 people in the region. Convenient access to these boreholes also protects women and children from travelling long distances for water in potentially unsafe conditions.

“Thank you to The Salvation Army for bringing clean water and food security to our community.”

–Tabitha, a grateful mother

Access to clean water also means gardens can thrive, creating a constant supply of food and improved nutrition for more than 1,000 households.

“With clean water, our teachers and students are no longer getting sick.”

“My garden is always full of vegetables, bananas and other seasonal crops,” says Tabitha, a beneficiary of the project. “My children are healthier, and we have defeated malnutrition. Thank you to everyone who made this possible for us!”
