In April 2021, India experienced one of the worst COVID-19 outbreaks in the world. More than 400,000 new cases were reported every day, breaking the global record for the highest singleday figure. The surge overwhelmed health services across the entire country, with hospitals running out of beds, drugs, and oxygen.

“I assure you of our prayers and practical support.”

Because of your generosity, The Salvation Army in Canada responded to this unprecedented crisis by providing lifesaving emergency support, including food, personal protective equipment, and hygiene and sanitation kits to more than 15,000 individuals.

“I am proud of the work being done at our hospitals and am hearing stories from your leaders of courage and great faith,” says General Brian Peddle, world leader of The Salvation Army. “Our hearts are moved and I assure you of our prayers and practical support.” The Salvation Army has been active in India since 1882, operating nine hospitals across the country.
