Human trafficking is a serious human rights violation that affects millions of people worldwide, including many in Canada. The impact of this heinous act, which often involves coercion, fraud and force, affects individuals of all ages and backgrounds, leading to profound physical and emotional trauma.

At The Salvation Army, we are dedicated to combating human trafficking through a comprehensive approach that includes prevention, protection and partnerships. Our goal is to rescue and support victims, raise public awareness and influence policies to prevent human trafficking.

We offer a range of services to support victims, such as emergency shelters, counselling, legal aid and reintegration programs. These services aim to create a safe environment where victims can rebuild their lives.

Prevention is a primary focus of our efforts. We conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public about the signs of human trafficking and how to report it. At The Salvation Army, we offer training programs for health care professionals, law enforcement and others who may encounter victims in their daily activities.

Partnerships are crucial to our response efforts. As of 2023, we have established 913 internal and external partnerships to support survivors, engage in collective programs and projects, provide education and awareness, address demand, provide referrals, and advocate for prevention.

The Salvation Army works hand in hand with a range of government and non-governmental organizations to strengthen the response to human trafficking. These partnerships form a comprehensive support network, ensuring that victims are not alone in their struggle and that there is a coordinated response to this grave problem.

We strive to create a comprehensive support network for victims. Our efforts include influencing public policy and legislation to ensure the proper enactment and enforcement of laws that protect victims.

Fighting human trafficking requires a collaborative and ongoing effort. The Salvation Army in Canada is at the forefront of this fight, providing essential support to victims and working tirelessly to eradicate this inhumane practice. Through prevention, protection, and partnerships, we are making a significant difference in the lives of many people. Your continued support is crucial in this ongoing fight.
