Imagine the weight of pregnancy, with a young daughter to care for amidst the chaos of war, all while being a military wife. Now imagine having to flee your homeland due to conflict, leaving your husband behind to serve and starting a new life in a foreign country, with no support, no family, and no friends. This is the touching reality of Masha Sinelnikova.

Masha’s journey as a refugee, immigrant, and newcomer from Ukraine is a testament to resilience in the face of adversity. Amid the horrors of war, The Salvation Army in Victoria extended a warm embrace to Masha and her family, offering more than just material assistance; our members offered hope, compassion, and a sense of belonging in their darkest times.

Today, Masha continues to rebuild her life in Canada, driven by the unwavering support of The Salvation Army’s spirit of helping those in need. It serves as a beacon of love and humanity, reminding us of the transformative power of compassion because welcoming is an act of love.
