Salvation Army Prairie West Needs Volunteers to Help Assist Fire Evacuees
SASKATOON, SK – The Salvation Army is on alert to provide essential services to evacuees from the northern Saskatchewan communities of Wollaston Lake and Hatchet Lake.
The SA received notification from the Ministry of Social Services that evacuees from the northern Saskatchewan communities will be arriving in Saskatoon.
In response, the SA’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Saskatchewan team is mobilizing. If deemed necessary, additional support will be made available through Emergency Response team members from elsewhere in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
One critical first task is to ensure volunteers are in place to help serve the needs of the evacuees. Volunteer personnel are required to assist with duties such as food preparation and delivery.
Those interested in volunteering should contact Volunteer Coordinator Sylvia Stevenson at (306) 242-6833. Please note that volunteers must pass a criminal record check.
