Sponsor a Family this Christmas!
For too many families, especially during the Christmas season, basic necessities are out of reach.
The Salvation Army in Ontario provides hope to individuals and families who are dealing with food insecurity, homelessness, unemployment and mental health.
Last year, with the generosity of our Army of Givers we helped 1.2 million Ontarians. However, the need continues to grow, and through our Christmas Assistance Program, you can bring smiles to families during the holiday season.
The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Program provides essential support to families during the Christmas season such as food hampers so families can enjoy a nutritious meal and new toys, so children wake up Christmas morning elated that Santa dropped by.

$250 fully sponsors a family during Christmas but every donation is most appreciated.
Your commitment to sponsor a family goes a long way and will help provide dignity to a family in need. No family should feel alone, hungry or unable to provide their child or children with presents during Christmas.
Donations are combined in order to use the funds more effectively. $250 represents the value of a typical Christmas assistance package for a family.

Frequently asked questions:
Q: Can we purchase the items for the family?
A: To ensure we provide all of our families receiving Christmas Assistance with the same level of support and to avoid any inequities between families, we no longer are able to allow this practice. If you would prefer to purchase items please consider making a toy donation to the CTV Toy Mountain Campaign. Visit ToyMountain.ca for more information.
Q: Can we deliver a food hamper and toys to a family being sponsored?
A: Receiving Christmas assistance is generally a private matter and many families are generally not open to such a visit.
Q: How do you distribute Christmas toys?
A: Through our annual partnership with CTV and their Toy Mountain initiative, and other toy drives throughout the Christmas season, toys are collected by our Ontario Distribution Centre and sent to several Community and Family Services locations in the province where families can access toys.
Q: How can we feel more directly involved?
A: We would encourage you to visit one of our Community and Family Service Offices and see our work in action. You can take a tour or volunteer to help sorting toys and food and packing hampers.
Thank you for being part of our Army of Givers and helping a family this holiday season through our Christmas Assistance Program.
