Meighen Health Centre Honours Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters

On September 30th, Meighen Health Centre stood in unity with communities across Canada to observe Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters — a solemn day of reflection, remembrance, and reconciliation.
We honoured the memory of the children who never came home from residential schools, uplifted the voices of survivors, and acknowledged the strength of their families and communities.
At MHC, this day was more than symbolic. It was a commitment:
Staff, residents, and families wore orange as a visible sign of support
We observed moments of reflection across the centre
Displays and conversations deepened our understanding of truth and reconciliation
Our “Every Child Matters” reflection board captured heartfelt messages of compassion and solidarity
This day reminds us that reconciliation is not a moment—it is a movement. We are committed to walking alongside Indigenous peoples, listening deeply, and creating a future rooted in dignity, equity, and healing.
Every Child Matters — yesterday, today, and always.
