Whitehorse Shelter to Offer Medical Clinic

People in Whitehorse who rely on the Salvation Army homeless shelter and soup kitchen can soon get medical care there as well.

The Yukon government is teaming up with the Salvation Army and the Kwanlin Dun First Nation to establish a weekly outreach clinic, which will open Aug. 10.

Two nurses will staff the outreach clinic every Wednesday between 9 a.m. and noon PT.

Salvation Army manager Judy Lightening said the clinic is a good idea because it means people who live on the streets won’t have to make appointments.
