When Tammy’s children saw the presents under the tree last Christmas, they were filled with excitement. “Their eyes brightened with life,” says Tammy.

For some, a joyous Christmas is simply a dream, but with the help of generous donors and volunteers, the dream can become reality for people in need this Christmas.

Tammy was a single mother of twin baby girls, camped out on the floor of her grandfather’s living room.  Having recently left an emotionally and financially abusive relationship, and feeling overwhelmed with the responsibilities of motherhood, Tammy was desperate for help. “Living off $300 a month is no easy task, especially when you have two little girls,” she says.

Struggling to feed and provide diapers for her children, Tammy turned to The Salvation Army for help. As a new mother with limited income, she appreciated the practical support she received. “Without The Salvation Army, I would just be scraping by,” says Tammy.

With Christmas approaching, Tammy was anxious to provide her children with presents under the tree and a nice Christmas meal. “The gifts meant the world to my girls, and their happiness means everything to me,” says Tammy.

Tammy has made it her goal to invest back into her community. For the past year, Tammy has been a full-time volunteer with The Salvation Army. “It’s been life changing and I’m grateful for this opportunity to help others.”

Every donation is significant and can truly make a difference in someone’s life.
