Introducing the New Divisional Leaders of The Salvation Army Atlantic Division

The Atlantic Division is celebrating the arrival of its newest divisional leaders: Divisional Commander, Lt. Colonel Scott Rideout; and Divisional Officer Personnel Secretary and Divisional Spiritual Life Development Secretary, Lt. Colonel Michelle Rideout.

Lt. Colonels Scott and Michelle Rideout bring with them a wealth of experience and a heartfelt commitment to the values and mission of The Salvation Army. Their journey, spanning over three decades, is a testament to their steadfast dedication to community connection and spiritual guidance.

Born in Newfoundland, Scott and Michelle trained as officers in the Servants of Jesus Session (1989-1991) at College for Officer Training in St. John’s, NL. For 25 years, they served together as corps officers throughout Newfoundland and Ontario until they were appointed as Area Commanders in July 2016. In July 2023, they returned as corps officers at Rideau Heights in Kingston, Ontario, before accepting their newest position as Atlantic Divisional Leaders.

Scott and Michelle’s leadership style is characterized by their inclusive approach and a strong focus on community engagement. They have consistently emphasized the importance of listening to, and working with, the communities, volunteers, and employees they support. Their collaborative spirit ensures that all voices are heard and that every individual feels valued.

Their unwavering faith and commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission will undoubtedly strengthen our collective efforts in providing compassionate service to those in need. Their presence is a testament to their dedication to God’s work and their desire to make a meaningful impact.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our previous leader for her remarkable contributions and look forward to the dynamic and impactful leadership that Scott and Michelle will bring. Together, we will continue to uphold the values of The Salvation Army, fostering hope, and transforming lives across the Atlantic Division.
