BRANDON, MB – Christmas Kettles are set and ready to boil in Brandon!  Major Rhonda Smith, Commanding/Family Services Officer officially kicked-off the Kettle Campaign in Brandon on Friday, November 20th.  The 2015 goal for Brandon & Area is $60,000.

Major Rhonda indicated "Money raised through the Kettles goes toward helping purchase items for the Christmas hampers that we're doing.  We work with the Christmas Cheer Board here in Brandon and we do an Adopt-a-Family program and coordinate over 100 families of adopters.  Once Christmas is taken care of that money goes toward supporting our Food Bank and our other emergency programs throughout the year."

There are six locations throughout Brandon, which will be handled by volunteers, and run through to the afternoon on Thursday, December 24th.

The Kettle Campaign in Brandon utilizes 50 to 60 volunteers.  Service Clubs, various other city clubs, and faithful year-to-year individual volunteers help in making the Campaign a success, however "We could still use a few more volunteers to help at the various locations throughout the City," says Major Rhonda.  If you'd like to volunteer or obtain additional information please call 204.727.6271 and press '3' should you get the automated service and we'll return your call.

Major Rhonda encouraged us by stating "We're really excited this year about going over our goal, which we've managed to do for a couple of years because the people in Brandon are very generous."  Nobody deserves to be left out – especially at Christmas – and that makes all the effort worth it.
