“Pack it Light, wear it Right” provides backpacks and supplies to MB students
WINNIPEG, MB – The Salvation Army is proud to partner with the Manitoba Chiropractors Association (MCA) in the Pack it Light, Wear it Right Backpack Program for a second year in a row!
The chiropractic community developed Pack it Light, Wear it Right to address the health issue of wearing an overloaded backpack on a developing spine. Pack it Light, Wear it Right addresses one of the MCA's 4 key areas – Optimal Spinal Health. The spine surrounds the most important system in the body; our central nervous system. Our nervous system controls how well our body works. A spine in less than optimal condition leads to a lower quality of life.
This year 510 students will receive new backpacks and school supplies; this is a significant increase over last year. Eighteen chiropractic offices participated in collecting new school supplies. The Salvation Army coordinated two drop-off dates for the public to contribute school supplies as well as coordinated filling of the backpacks with essential items that each child will need to get the school year started right.
In addition to giving a huge thank you to the Manitoba Chiropractic Association, we would like to express appreciation to the staff of the following offices for their tremendous efforts in collecting school supplies:
