Harlem Globetrotter Serves Saskatoon’s Less Fortunate
Saskatoon, SK – The Harlem Globetrotters have been dazzling fans worldwide for decades; it is off the court where they shine as the Ambassadors of Goodwill. The Salvation Army in Saskatoon witnessed that goodwill on Monday, December 17th when player, Handles Franklin, visited the Community Centre.
During his visit Franklin served lunch to hundreds of Saskatoon’s less fortunate and helped make their Christmas season brighter.
“The Harlem Globetrotters love to give back to communities,” says Glynnis Richard, Public Relations Manager for the Harlem Globetrotters. “The team brings a charitable spirit to each city they play with many community outreach programs benefiting families and children.”
The Salvation Army was thrilled to have a member of The Harlem Globetrotters in Saskatoon to help provide hope and dignity to many of the cities marginalized.
“We are excited to have welcomed Handles Franklin to the Centre and know that as he shared in serving meals he brought that little extra joy and pleasure this Christmas,” says Malba Holliday, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Salvation Army. “Thank you Harlem Globetrotters for supporting our ministry and community.”
The Harlem Globetrotters will play in Saskatoon’s Credit Union Centre on January 8, 2013.
