Thank You Letter Captures Importance of Programs Supporting Children and Families in Need
Kingston, ON – Jan 18, 2011 – A thank you letter delivered to The Salvation Army is a poignant reminder of just how important programs such as Toy Mountain are to children and families in need.
In the letter; hand-written in crayon on a piece of paper towel, Sisters Yasmine, Katherine and Nadine each offered thanks for the gifts they had received.
“Every time I read the letter, I get a lump in my throat” said Michael Maidment, area director for public relations and development for Eastern Ontario. “The girls have provided a wonderful example of why the community provides such generous support to the Toy Mountain program”.
The Toy Mountain program; a partnership between CHUM Radio Kingston and The Salvation Army, distributed toys to over 2700 children in the Kingston area in 2010. Donated toys are collected in retail locations throughout Kingston during the month of December and distributed to families in time for Christmas.
